THE OBJECTIVES OF THE CIO ARE:(A) TO RELIEVE THE MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL DISTRESS SUFFERED BY PEOPLE WITHIN BRIGHTON AND HOVE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA, WHO ARE LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER (LGBT) BY THE PROVISION OF ADVOCACY, PRACTICAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT THEREBY INCREASING SELF-ESTEEM AND POSITIVE IDENTITY AMONGST SAID PERSONS AND (B) TO PROMOTE EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY BY THE ELIMINATION OF DISCRIMINATION IN RELATION TO LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER (LGBT) PERSONS AND BY RAISING AWARENESS OF ISSUES AFFECTING SAID PERSONS.
