Taking place at two leisure centres in Brighton and Hove, this will consist ....more The project will deliver a year-long programme of weekly yoga, fitness and dance activities for less active children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Taking place at two leisure centres in Brighton and Hove, this will consist of three ten-week programmes for children aged 6-11 and three ten-week programmes for ages 12+, both during term time. Sessions will take place at weekends and run for one hour. In addition, ten half-day yoga, dance and fitness workshops will take place during school holidays. Funding will support facility hire, promotion, coaching fees, evaluation, additional staff costs and equipment, including yoga mats, Pilates bands, lights and dance accessories.

Objectives

THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE:(1) TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE, INFIRMITY OR DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR SOCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE BY PROVIDING SOCIAL DANCE ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS WHICH ARE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL.(2) TO PROMOTE, MAINTAIN, IMPROVE AND ADVANCE THE EDUCATION AND APPRECIATION OF THE PUBLIC IN DANCE, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY ENCOURAGING HIGH STANDARDS IN DANCE, CHOREOGRAPHING AND DELIVERING HIGH QUALITY PERFORMANCES IN CONTRIBUTION TO CONCERTS AND THEATRE.(3) TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN THE ART OF DANCE, PARTICULARLY THROUGH WORKING WITH PRE-SCHOOLS, SCHOOLS, PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATIONS, AFTER SCHOOL AND HOLIDAY CLUBS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, LIBRARIES, GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS, SPORTS CLUBS AND UNIFORMED ORGANISATIONS.(4) TO ADVANCE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH DANCE ACTIVITY.
