Hear Women will facilitate 36 peer sessions for 35 surviving women from the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy and the surrounding area. Women will be from North and East African and Arab background. The sessions will be delivered by a lived experience peer facilitator. The peer facilitator has delivered four of our mental health projects in the past so knows the community we serve very well; trust is in place. The peer facilitator will direct the discourse of the conversations and ensure safety guidelines and ground rules are followed. The peer facilitator will also share information and can signpost to other available service/programme. The peer facilitator will train 14 out of the 35 participating women on leadership skills and key basic peer support concepts. They will become peer supporters and each will take ownership of a session and lead on it. The activities will bring hope back in women's lives by demonstrating positive examples. Women will be encouraged to solve their own issues - either resulting from the Grenfell tragedy or existing from before - by acknowledging them at the first place, and then taking actions. All women will have experienced the tragedy and this will be the uniting element. They will benefit from three levels of support - confidential and individual, group support through personal experiences and outside socialisation that brings joy and normality back.
