This organisation is on the ground and has opened its facilities to support the relief efforts. It has a large footstep in Nepal (21 Area Welfare Centres and over 350 staff), and is closely involved with the overall relief effort in Nepal, as well as responding to the needs of their direct beneficiaries, the majority of whom are extremely elderly.

Objectives

THE CHARITY’S OBJECTS (‘OBJECTS’) ARE SPECIFICALLY RESTRICTED TO THE FOLLOWING:(1) TO RELIEVE EITHER GENERALLY OR INDIVIDUALLY GURKHAS AND THEIR DEPENDANTS AND OTHERPERSONS IN GURKHA COMMUNITY AREAS, WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED, HARDSHIP ORDISTRESS;(2) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF GURKHAS AND THEIR DEPENDANTS AND OTHER PERSONS INGURKHA COMMUNITY AREAS;(3) TO MAKE PROVISION FOR THE MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF GURKHAS AND THEIRDEPENDANTS AND OTHER PERSONS IN GURKHA COMMUNITY AREAS WHO ARE IN NEED OF SUCHDIAGNOSIS OR TREATMENT AND FOR THE PREVENTION OF ANY DISEASE OR ADVERSE CONDITIONSWHICH MAY AFFECT ANY SUCH PERSON; AND(4) SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES WHICH ARE IN THE OPINION OF THE TRUSTEES CONNECTEDDIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY WITH THE FOREGOING PURPOSES AS THE TRUSTEES FROM TIME TO TIME THINKFIT.
