City Gate Community Projects Fare Share project re-distributes surplus food to vulnerable people across Sussex. They deliver this food to charity partners (food banks, shelters, hospices, etc) who use it to feed their clients. Their warehouse operation means that they can take large deliveries of food that community groups can’t, because they have the operational resources to break them down into usable packages for redistribution. Funding was provided towards operational costs.

They have 150 volunteers to sort, store and deliver the food using refrigerated van to 140 charities. Funding will support the core costs of the charity as they respond to the increase in demand for their service from Covid 19.

FareShare Sussex re-distributes surplus food to vulnerable people across Sussex. They have 150 volunteers to sort, store and deliver the food using refrigerated van to 140 charities. As a result of the COVID19 crisis they know that the charities they provide food for are struggling to find the cost of their FareShare fees. Funding will susbsidise the usual fees paid by charities to access their food across Sussex for the next three months.

Funding was provided towards their annual operating costs which include the leasing of our warehouse units, leasing of their 3 delivery vans, staff salaries and volunteer expenses.
