THE JEWISH MUSEUM LONDON

The Jewish Museum collects, preserves, interprets and exhibits material relating to Jewish history, culture and religious life. It draws on the Jewish experience as a focus for the exploration of identity in a multicultural society, actively engaging with the shared experiences represented in the diverse cultural heritage of London, Britain and the wider world.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • Fundraising costs are low relative to funds raised
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of age and gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • One or more trustees receive benefits from the charity

Financial issues to consider:

  • Liquidity appears to have been slender at the latest year end but very substantial unrestricted reserves are available
  • Spending has fallen significantly over the last 5 years relative to the previous period
  • Income has been volatile and on several occasions in recent years less than spending
